VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS

Cars have changed a lot in the last decade and the latest generation of autos are now mostly controlled  by computers. Most cars today use an on-board computer to monitor and manage several of your car's operating systems. These on-board computers have more memory capacity than the first space craft that went to the moon.

Your car's engine management computer is arguably the most delicate and complicated component in your car. This is great when everything works perfectly and as expected, but like all computers, they sometimes go wrong or they  tell us something is wrong but we don't always understand what or why.

If this computer detects irregularities in your car's operating systems, it will often turn on a dashboard warning light. If you're unlucky enough to see the engine warning light on your dashboard, you'll have every right to be a little anxious. Especially as the warning light might be the only indication that something's not right with your vehicle. If you're tempted to ignore it – DON'T!

Whatever make or model your car is and whatever problem we find, we can fix it. It's simply a matter of time and cost.

Some of the most common problems and complaints we diagnose are:

  • Lack of performance

  • Increased fuel consumption

  • Starting problems

  • Misfiring

  • ABS performance

  • Engine diagnostic light on

  • General electrical problems (indicators, wipers, etc.)

Unless you happen to have the required complex diagnostic equipment in your garage, this is something you'll need to let a specialist handle. So if you're blinking at that dashboard light, wondering what on earth could be up with your car, don't fret. Help is at hand. Call us now for helpful advice and you'll be back on the road as quickly as possible.

AIR CONDITIONING

Keeping your air conditioning functioning properly is important not only for your comfort on the road, but also to help you keep down fuel and repair costs.

It's normal for your air conditioning system to lose pressure over time, but did you know that a 50% reduction in pressure will raise your fuel consumption by 5%? It may not sound like much, but at today's prices, it soon adds up!

Manufacturer's recommendations usually state that an air conditioning unit should be fully serviced every 2 years. This usually involves:

  • Topping up the system's oil reservoir

  • Adding a special dye to the system to test for leaks

  • Repairing leaks if found

  • Removing odours if required

  • Recharging with gas for maximum efficiency

Aside from keeping up to date with your recommended servicing routine, you may not need to have your air-con serviced at any other time. But if you notice a reduction in performance or output, or the appearance of an undesirable odour, it's probably time to book your car in for an assessment.

We can tackle any make or model of car from an Alfa Romeo to a Volkswagen and pretty much everything in between. We regularly talk to first-time customers who've been anxious about getting servicing and repairs done honestly, properly, and at a competitive price. So why not call us now for more information.

BRAKE REPAIR SPECIALIST

Many cars, even from new, have minor brake hub distortions. This is misalignment of the hub onto which your brake discs and wheels are mounted. Hub runout can also happen if a vehicle suffers even minor crash damage such as hitting a kerb.

If you have any steering wheel or brake vibration in your car now, even after having new discs put on in a dealership, you CERTAINLY have brake hub runout or brake disc distortion. As a brake specialist, we have tools most garages do not, including the Pro Cut brake lathe.

We want our customers to be totally satisfied and safe in their brakes and driving experience. As long as your brake discs are above the manufacturers minimum recommended thickness, we can offer a less expensive option.

This is an ideal solution for 4x4’s and high end vehicles that may have specialist discs which are expensive or difficult to match, or when discs are suffering from corrosion problems around MOT time. The lathe takes a tiny skim from the surface of the brake discs to remove any corrosion or hubmisalignment that would cause brake vibration solving the problem quickly and efficiently. Brakes feel smoother and last longer. NO vibration.

Call us now to discuss any braking problems you may be experiencing and we can get back motoring with complete peace of mind.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Wheel alignment is not only for performance cars - it matters just as much for family cars, vans and other vehicles. It’s about two things: your safety, and reducing wear on your vehicle.

Repairs to your steering or suspension, driving over potholes, speed bumps or kerbs can knock your wheel alignment out. This can lead to uneven wear on your tyres and it could feel like you car is 'pulling' to one side. This can lead to an increase in fuel consumption and premature tyre wear.

Wheel alignment (or tracking) is one of the key maintenance factors to ensure optimum performance, even tyre wear and a maximised tyre life. An accurate alignment also provides safe and predictable vehicle control and road holding alongside a smoother and more comfortable ride

We use the latest Visualiner series of optical alignment equipment with advanced measurement features to accurately check your car for alignment faults. We can also identify worn or deteriorated steering and suspension components that would affect your vehicles wheel alignment and prevent accurate adjustments.

The equipment prints a full colour diagnostic report showing before and after service alignment readings for your complete satisfaction

Call us now to arrange a booking or discuss any concerns you might have with your steering.
